…are so collectible.

They’re beautiful.

Here’s a link to some more information about Batchelder from a guy who’s clearly done his research.

And, by the way, the collection of tiles in my photo live in front of what is rumored to have been Batchelder’s own house in Pasadena.

…A Greene & Greene house which is currently owned by an architectural historian. It’s featured on this blog before, as a matter of fact.

I love walking past it almost every day.

  2. You’re back in my neighborhood again? I hope to bump into you! Thanks for the great link – finding the Batchelder tiles in LA is now my next quest.

    • I hope I bump into you too! And, btw, I just got the information from someone who used to work at the Gamble House (the current owner of the property in this photo is connected with them) that Batchelder originally used to fire his tiles in a kiln in the back yard. It wasn’t until years after he began (and I assume when business got booming) that he moved his kilns further into L.A.
